Biograpgy

Mohamed Ezzat is an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Prince Sultan University (PSU), Riyadh, KSA. His area of specialty is geotechnical Engineering, with an emphasis on resilient infrastructure applications. He obtained his MSc in 2013 and a Ph.D. in 2018, both at Ain Shams University, Egypt. He has been instrumental in founding the Structures and Materials (S&M) Research Lab and recently established the GEOTECH 2.0 Research Lab, an advanced AI-driven geotechnical research facility funded by a major research grant by the Saudi government.

Dr. Al-Atroush has been awarded numerous accolades for his contributions to research, including the prestigious HH Prince Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf's Award for Scientific Research (2024). Between 2020 and 2023, he secured six research grants for studies in resilient and sustainable infrastructures and earned the PSU Research Excellence Awards, with 2nd prize in 2021 and 1st prize in 2023 for his research addressing climate change challenges. His contributions to high-impact research are reflected in several publications in prestigious journals and conferences worldwide.

As the Secretary of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Saudi Arabia Section and a member of the Soil Improvement Technical Committee of the ASCE Geotechnical Institute (GI), Dr. Al-Atroush actively contributes to advancing the field of geotechnical engineering. He is also a member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and the Fabricated Geomembranes Institute (FGI). Additionally, he is the founder and faculty advisor of the ASCE Student Chapter at PSU.

Beyond academia, Dr. Al-Atroush is a licensed professional engineer with over 15 years of experience. He has provided geotechnical expertise for more than 250 projects across the Middle East. His portfolio includes site investigations, problematic soil analysis, slope stability evaluations, deep excavation support design, dewatering systems, deep foundation and bridge design, geophysical studies, and the impact of tunnel-induced ground deformations on adjacent structures.
